Is it OK to have dental treatment during pregnancy?

Most people think about this question in relation X-rays. The risk to an unborn child is very small, but it is better to avoid being exposed. If you think you are, or might be, pregnant, make sure you tell your dentist. It is possible to take an x-ray even if you are pregnant in times of emergency.
During pregnancy we generally avoid doing too much treatment anyway. Your dentist will usually put off routine treatment until after your baby is born. It is perfectly safe for your dentist to use a local anaesthetic, if it is necessary, during pregnancy.
